Discovery review built for public defender offices

Discovery in a typical case now includes bodycam, phone extractions and recorded calls alongside the paperwork, and public defenders carry that across a full caseload. Coherence is discovery review software that lets attorneys, investigators and paralegals in a public defender office search and review all of it in one workspace, with every result cited to its source.

One workspace for the office

Attorneys, investigators and paralegals work in the same case, so the person who found the clip and the person who will argue it are looking at the same file and the same citations.

Every account has role-based access. SSO and custom integrations are available for offices.

Working through a production

Discovery imports from TechShare, cloud drives or local uploads, and large sets go through the Sync Agent, which resumes if the network drops. Everything is indexed and transcribed across dozens of languages, so a phrase, a face or an object can be found across every file in the case.

The multi-camera viewer shows up to eight bodycam and CCTV feeds on one timeline. Miranda analyzers flag gaps and timing for review, and places where the reports and the footage disagree are surfaced with both sources cited. See discovery review and bodycam review for more.

Defense only

Coherence is not used by prosecution offices and is not connected to law enforcement systems. Customer case data is stored in Texas on Azure.

Privilege by default

Every item is labeled work product when it is ingested, and privileged communications stay out of the search index unless marked otherwise.

Closed cases and appeals

Closed cases move to the archive vault for long-term retention. When an appeal opens or a habeas petition lands, a case can be restored in hours with its files, hashes and work intact.

Getting started

Public defender offices, multi-office practices and complex matters start with a walkthrough. Setup is scoped with the office, including access roles, SSO and how discovery arrives today.

Coherence runs in the browser. The only thing to install is the optional Sync Agent, for offices that move large phone extractions or bodycam sets.
